First R&J/Daily Mail book club picks
22.09.08 Katie Allen
The inaugural title from new Random House imprint Windmill has been brought forward from its February release date to be one of the first three titles selected for the Richard & Judy/Daily Mail New Writers Book Club. Richard & Judy's new series "Richard & Judy's New Position" will launch on 7th October with new UKTV channel Watch.
Mudbound by Hillary Jordan (Windmill, 2nd October) will appear in the October slot, with The Marriage Bureau for Rich People by Farahad Zama (Abacus, 2nd October) and Loving Frank by Nancy Horan (Sceptre, 2nd October) scheduled for November and December respectively. Loving Frank is being relaunched with a new cover to fit the New Writers guidelines, while The Marriage Bureau also had its paperback publication date changed. Copies of the books will be stickered with the new R&J logo.
The New Writers strand is monthly, and will be publicised in the Daily Mail, with a double-page spread on the month's title in the Weekend magazine the previous Saturday, including an interview with the author. A National Book Token offering the month's title for half price will be printed in the paper and valid for one calendar month only.
Comprehensive promotional schedules for both Watch and "R&J" will be announced later this week.
