Time on Oprah
Time magazine looks at the Oprah-effect on book sales, following Oprah Winfrey's latest book club selection.
Winfrey announced the choice of The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski on air on 19th September, with its publisher, HarperCollins imprint Ecco, ordering 750,000 "Oprah versions" of the title in anticipation, reports the article.
The title debuted at number 14 on the New York Times fiction bestseller list with an initial print run of 26,000 and crept up to number two; it will be #1 on the list published 5th October.
"Having an Oprah Book Club selection is pretty much like the pinnacle for the industry," said Michael McKenzie, publicity director for Ecco.
