HMV shares pushed upwards
HMV's share price was driven up 2¾ to 118p on what was a very weak day of trading for UK equities, reports the Telegraph. It was boosted by talk that, at these levels, a major investor could be building a stake in the high street chain.
HMV performed exceptionally well as the retail sector was knocked by supermarket giant Tesco saying the rate of growth in non-food had eased "in more subdued markets". More cautious dealers suggested the stock could simply be moving ahead of its full-year results next Thursday.
