Furniss fills WMA void
26.09.07 Katherine Rushton
Eugenie Furniss has been made head of the William Morris Agency’s London book department, filling the void left by Caroline Michel who left last week to become chief executive at PFD.
Furniss, whose clients include Piers Morgan, Gloria Hunniford and Julian Clary, has been with the agency for ten years. “I’m delighted to be given this new role at such an exciting time,” she said. “We’ll be continuing to build on our list of UK clients as well as representing the UK interests of our New York department’s extraordinary list of writers.”
Meanwhile PFD is struggling to stem the exodus of outraged agents who object to Michel being appointed over their heads. A spokesman for the “rebels” confirmed that 21 agents have now resigned, including 11 PFD directors, who are all in talks to set up a new agency in January 2008. Combined, the group claims to represent more than 75% of PFD’s business.
