Blake rushes Ronaldo

John Blake will rush release the paperback version of its unauthorised Cristiano Ronaldo biography in August. But HarperCollins has no immediate plans to publish a follow-up to Wayne Rooney's autobiography despite Manchester United's Champions League win last week.

HarperCollins signed a £5m five book deal with the England international in 2006 with the first book coming to market that year. This season has seen Manchester United clinch the Premier League and Champions League double, but a spokesperson for HarperCollins said there were no immediate plans to publish a book about Rooney's role in the wins. "There's nothing to announce yet," she said. "[But] we have a five book deal with him so there is definitely more to come."

Orion will be publishing tie-in title the Official Manchester United Story of the Season in August. Orion's Angela McMahon said the book's cover had been changed to reflect the club's recent success. "It will have all the photos from Moscow [where the final was held] and it will cover the ins and outs of the football season from the players' perspective."

John Blake said its Ronaldo title had also been revised in light of the season's successes. "It will be fully updated with everything that happened this season as the team basks in the glory of the double," said editor-in-chief Michelle Signore. Blake's unofficial biography of midfielder Owen Hargreaves will also feature the Champions League story.
