Penguin in Wolfson prize double

Penguin authors Rosemary Hill and John Darwin have won this year's Wolfson History prizes, for God's Architect and After Tamerlane respectively. Both authors received a cheque for £20,000 at the award ceremony on earlier this week (10th June).

The Wolfson Prizes were launched in 1972 to promote and encourage standards of excellence in the writing of history for the general public. They are given annually, usually for two exceptional works published during the year, with an occasional oeuvre prize. The judges were Sir Keith Thomas, Dame Averil Cameron, Professor Richard Evans and Professor David Cannadine.
