Publishers line up for ALPSP awards

The shortlist for two awards given out by the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers has been announced, with candidates from around the world lining up for the prizes.
The ALPSP's Best New Journal and Publishing Innovation awards will be announced on 11th September at the association's international conference dinner at Beaumont House in Berkshire.
Candidates for the best new journal include the American Chemical Society, Wiley-Blackwell and the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Elsevier and Emerald Group Publishing.
Meanwhile, the publishing innovation award, which recognises "a truly innovative approach to any aspect of publication" is being fought between Oxford Journals, CrossRef/iParadigms Partnership, the OECD, Ringgold, and the International Union of Crystallography.
The six judges on ALPSP's panel comprise senior members of the industry, such as the chair Richard Gedye, who is the research director of Oxford Journals.
