New Morrisons deal for EUK

Wholesaler Entertainment UK has extended its deal to supply books to Morrisons, and will continue to distribute titles to 375 of its stores until February 2011.

The wholesaler has been working with Morrisons, the UK's fourth largest supermarket chain, since 2005. It also extended its contract to supply the supermarket with chart CDs, DVDs and videogames until the same date. EUK said that since it began working with Morrisons, the supermarket's turnover in the chart sector of the home entertainment market had increased by more than 150%.

John Vinuesa, home and leisure director at Morrisons, said that it would work closer with publishers as well as other suppliers "to ensure that Morrisons' potential is fully recognised". "We continue to be excited by the entertainment and book markets and the increasingly significant role that we play within them," he said.

Steve Lewis, m.d. at EUK, said that he was "delighted" the contract had been extended. "Morrisons continues to push forward as a progressive and proactive national retailer with extremely impressive growth in home entertainment, and we are thrilled to be an integral part of its future development," he said.
