Pearson confirms redundancy talks
24.07.08 Catherine Neilan
Pearson Education has confirmed that it is in discussions with a number of staff members over the continuation of their roles at its Oxford and Harlow offices.
A spokesman at the educational publisher said the company "did not comment on staffing matters generally", but confirmed it was consulting with "a small number of staff" in the two locations, which became part of Pearson after its acquisition of Harcourt Education in May 2007. Reports suggested that 39 positions were at risk.
The spokesman added: "Pearson always seeks to find suitable roles for staff across the business and will be consulting with its staff to secure the right roles for people wherever possible."
