Producers seek female stories at festival
11.08.08 Catherine Neilan
This year's Women's Fiction Festival will see US producer Stephanie Austin and director Doug McKeon looking out for original female stories to turn into a film.
The festival, which is now in its fifth year, will also offer the opportunity for writers, agents and publishers to get together and discuss books and market trends against the backdrop of the southern-Italian city of Matera.
The festival, which runs from 25-28th September, also includes a range of master classes, including a seminar on writing for young adults from Nick Hornby and a seminar on writing for Harlequin Mills & Boon.
Tony Lacey, senior editor at Penguin, and agent Sarah Jane Freymann will also hold a mini-course on writing narrative non-fiction, while novelist Janice Eidus will conduct a three-day course on short story writing.
