HarperFiction promotes Brookes
19.08.08 Graeme Neill
HarperFiction has promoted deputy publishing director Wayne Brookes to publishing director with Voyager’s Sarah Hodgson also moving up to deputy publishing director.
Brookes will report to publishing director Julia Wisdom. He has been given the task of commissioning more titles for the publisher, with a particular focus on crime and thrillers.
“Since joining HarperCollins in 2003, Wayne has energetically built his own list of successful authors, including launching the careers of Wil Adams, Alex Barclay, Tasmina Perry and James Twining, commissioning quirky fiction such as The Average American Male, and reinvigorating the publishing of perennial bestsellers such as Jack Higgins,” said Amanda Ridout, m.d. of HarperFiction.
Hodgson’s new job will involve leading the Voyager team as well as expanding her commissioning remit into crime and thriller titles. She will also join the fiction executive, which is Ridout’s management team for that department.
Hodgson will report to Voyager publishing director Jane Johnson. “She has made some key acquisitions during the year, including new books by Stuart MacBride, Stephen Hunt, Warren Fahy, and Cory Doctorow,” said Ridout.
