Harper acquires new Lamb
HarperCollins has acquired the UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Australia and New Zealand, to the new book by Wally Lamb, author of I Know This Much is True.
Susan Opie, UK editorial director at HC, bought the rights from its US wing, that had signed a worldwide deal for the book. The novel will be published in November in hardback.
Opie described the book as "a big American novel in every sense". She said: "This is an astonishing book, huge in scope, telling of identity, betrayal, and how to make sense of the world when impossible things happen. It tells of the Columbine High School massacre and the aftermath, of Hurricane Katrina and the human cost, and how ordinary people cope with the extraordinary."
