Exclusive deal for Amazon's Kindle
Amazon.com has struck a deal with Globe Pequot Press imprint Lyons Press in the US to offer separate biographies of the two potential first ladies on an exclusive basis to users of Amazon's Kindle e-book reader, reports the Wall Street Journal.
The two titles, Cindy McCain: Elegance, Good Will and Hope for a New America by Alicia Colon and Michelle Obama: Grace and Intelligence in a Time of Change by Elizabeth Lightfoot, will be published as e-books by Lyons Press, but only book about the winning candidate's wife will be published as a traditional, $14.95 paperback.
"We'll begin printing the biography of the winner as soon as we know her name," said Scott Watrous, president and publisher of Globe Pequot Press.
Amazon's Kindle, which made its début last November, has had titles on an exclusive basis in the past, such as Terry Goodkind's novel Wizard's First Rule.
