Bath Festivals has appointed Alex Clark as artistic director of words and literature.
Clark is an editor and literary journalist who contributes to the Guardian, the Observer and the Times Literary Supplement. She also hosts the Vintage Podcast, a monthly books podcast with author interviews and book news.
John Cullum, chair of Bath Festival, said: "The appointment of Alex Clark is an important and exciting prospect. Retaining the highest calibre of artistic direction is vital to maintaining the integrity of our festivals, especially in an era of major challenges from traditional financial sources. I have no doubt that Alex will continue to lead us towards an increasingly popular and inventive programme that will reach a wider and more diverse audience.”
Clark said: “I am thrilled to be joining the Bath Festivals team. I’ve been participating in the literature festival for several years and have witnessed, first hand, the imagination and dedication that goes into making it such a special experience for audiences and authors alike. I look forward to taking on this new role and ensuring that the Bath Festival literary events continue to be unmissable dates in the literary year and an integral part of Bath’s cultural life.”
