Amazon is scrapping its Trade-In programme from the end of this month.
Currently, books, video games and other items can be traded in on Amazon’s website in return for Amazon gift cards.
But the company has told customers it is now closing the programme for good on the 31st August and will not accept trade ins after this date.
Instead, Amazon is sending customers through its third party marketplace platform in order to sell the goods themselves online.
A note on the company’s website said: “We are closing our Trade-In programme on 31st August 2015. We will no longer be accepting trade-in submissions after this date.
“…All issued Amazon.co.uk Gift Cards will remain valid after the closure of our Trade-In Programme. As before, this will be subject to our Gift Card Terms and Conditions.”
No reason was given for the termination of the programme.
The company added that it operates a marketplace platform “where you can list your products for sale through Sell on Amazon. With Sell on Amazon you can sell in over 30 product categories across 5 European Marketplaces.”
