Octopus imprint Aster has acquired The Turmeric Cookbook - a book designed to help readers discover the health benefits and uses of turmeric in 50 different recipes.
The Turmeric Cookbook is the first in what will be a new series on a selection of the "world’s healthiest ingredients" and will publish on 3rd August, £10, in hardback. Recipes in the book all use turmeric, including tonics and teas, soups, tagines, curries, salads and ice cream.
Octopus consultant publisher Kate Adams, who acquired world rights, said the popularity of turmeric as an ingredient has been "increasing rapidly". The healthful ingredient has long been used in Chinese and Indian medicine and is recommended as one of nature's most powerful anti-inflammatory ingredients, and to treat a host of other conditions, including digestion problems, jaundice, menstrual difficulties, toothache, bruises, chest pain and colic.
Adams joined Octopus to spearhead its new lifestyle imprint Aster in October last year. Its focus is books that "nourish and inspire".
