Margaret Atwood is taking her book tour to Australia and New Zealand next year in celebration of the global publication of The Testaments (Vintage).
Appearing live on stage in a series of scheduled "in conversation" appearances, Atwood will discuss her career, her diverse range of works and why she has returned to the fictional world of Gilead 34 years later.
The tour begins in Wellington on 10th February 2020 and travels to Auckland (11th), Christchurch (12th), Sydney, (16th and 17th) Canberra (19th), Brisbane (22nd), Melbourne (23rd), Hobart (24th) and Perth (1st March).
With further information to be made available at www.margaretatwoodlive.com.au, tickets pre-sales will commence at 12 noon (AEDT) on Monday 25th November and the general public will be able to buy tickets from 12 noon (AEDT) on Friday 29th November. As part of a special initiative, 25 free tickets for each performance will additionally be given to under 25s. These tickets will be released on the day of each show.
Atwood said: "I am so happy to be returning to Australia & New Zealand, where I have spent much time in the past, and where readers have always been so warm and welcoming."
The production company behind the event is Fane, which also created the live event at the National Theatre, London in September to mark the release of The Testaments screened to 1,500 cinemas around the world.
