The first of its kind Simon & Schuster has held, the event at The Hotel Cafe Royal on London’s Regent Street saw retail buyers such as W H Smith’s Matt Bates, Kobo’s Lindsey Mooney and Waterstones’ Bea Carvalho toast to the company's forthcoming writers set to be published this year.
Also at the event were authors Louise Candlish, who recently moved to S&S in a six figure deal, Clare Harvey and biographer Andrew Wilson, among many others.
Ian Chapman, chief executive and publisher of S&S UK, said such events were a "reaffirmation of all that is good about book publishing".

“Such events are a reminder of how lucky we are to be doing what we do; a reaffirmation of all that is good about book publishing."
