Bella Pagan, senior commissioning editor at Pan Macmillan and Tor, has been promoted to editorial director at Pan Macmillan Fiction.
Pagan joined Pan Macmillan in 2011 from Orbit, Little Brown’s science fiction and fantasy list, where she spent five years as commissioning editor.
Recent acquisitions by Pagan include Jon Abbot's dark fantasy novel The Never King, high concept time travel novella A Window into Time by "stalwart of the list" Peter F Hamilton and dystopian debut The Space between the Stars by Anne Corlett.
Wayne Brookes, associate publisher for fiction at Pan Macmillan, said: "Since her arrival at Pan Macmillan Bella has passionately published a number of best-selling authors across the Tor and Pan Macmillan list. Not only has she acquired successful authors such as Genevieve Cogman and Zen Cho but has continued to publish and see growth with stalwarts of the list such as Peter F Hamilton and Adrian Tchaikovsky - the current winner of the Arthur C Clarke award. Consequently our fantasy and science fiction list has never looked healthier. Bella continues to bring new talent to the list, looking especially for genre-busting fiction with huge cross-over appeal."
