Abigail Bergstrom, former senior commissioning editor at Simon & Schuster, has been appointed to the role of publishing manager for talent management company Gleam Futures.
Gleam Futures manages the careers social media stars such as Zoe Sugg, Alfie Deyes and Tanya Burr, and is expanding its publishing interests by hiring expertise from inside the publishing industry.
Bergstrom will work across Gleam’s offices in London and Los Angeles as part of the newly-created role and will be responsible for further building on the company’s track record of eight consecutive number one bestsellers.
Bergstrom worked on publishing Life with a Sprinkle of Glitter by YouTube star Louise Pentland for S&S, which reached the number one spot upon its publication in August 2015. She also worked on Everyday Sexism by Laura Bates, Grace’s Guide by YouTube star Grace Helbig, a series of books with the global ‘talks’ phenomenon TED, LovexStylexLife by world-renowned fashion blogger Garance Doré and along with a collection of essays from the Academy Award-nominated actor, Anna Kendrick.
Bergstrom said Gleam has had an "important" impact on the publishing industry in the UK and in the US.
“The way people consume content is continually evolving and I’m fascinated by the opportunities surrounding both digital media and print books,” she said. “I am eager to develop the existing and future roster of talent and help shape the next chapter of Gleam’s publishing success.”
The m.d and founder of Gleam, Dominic Smales, who was named in The Bookseller 100 for the first time this year, said: “I am delighted to have Abigail join the team. I am hoping the industry see this appointment as a clear indication of our commitment to continue to build strong partnerships and quality products in the global publishing industry.”
Bergstrom begins at Gleam today (30th March).
