Penguin Random House parent company Bertelsmann has acquired WhiteCloud Analytics, a performance management firm, to boost its education business.
Bertelsmann’s subsidiary, Relias Learning, has taken over WhiteCloud to strengthen its data analysis expertise. WhiteCloud has a workforce of around 50 people and specialises in healthcare, offering analysis solutions so clients, including hospitals, can compare data between themselves and competitors.
Kay Krafft, c.e.o of the Bertelsmann Education Group, said: “Relias Learning has grown significantly over the past few years, opening up new customer groups such as the hospital segment.”
She added: “The acquisition of WhiteCloud Analytics further strengthens Relias by complementing the company’s first-class e-learning offerings with a deepening data analysis tool.”
The acquisition follows last year’s takeover of the US analytics provider Care Management Technologies (CMT) by Relias.
WhiteCloud is Relias' seventh acquisition since March 2016. It recently acquired e-learning providers Advanced Practice Strategies, Swank Healthcare and AHC Media and spm in Germany. The acquisition of Relias Learning itself was Bertelsmann’s largest acquisition in the US since the Random House takeover in 1998.
The financial details have not been disclosed.
