Black & White Publishing has bought two more books in the JT Ellington series by crime novelist M P Wright.
The Bristol-based series follows West Indian ex-policeman and reluctant private detective, Joseph ‘JT’ Tremaine Ellington, in the late 1960s. The third book, The Restless Coffins, will be published in January 2018 with Rivers of Blood to follow.
Campbell Brown, the Scottish indie publisher’s m.d, acquired World English rights for the two titles from Philip Patterson at Marjacq.
The Restless Coffins sees JT receive bad news about his sister, and he must travel back to his home island Barbados to settle her affairs. He finds himself embroiled in the world of drugs, bent law, voodoo and the legacy of slavery as he returns to the island of his birth to "face the demons of his past".
Brown said: “We’re very excited to be continuing the JT Ellington series and to let readers find out what the reluctant detective gets up to next. He’s a unique character and these are powerful stories with a fantastically engaging private detective.”
Wright said he was “overjoyed” that Black & White would continue with his series after publishing his first two books in 2014 and 2016 respectively.
He said: “After Heartman and All Through The Night my West Indian detective is returning home, back to his roots in Barbados for The Restless Coffins before returning to Bristol and a new decade in The Rivers Of Blood. It’s wonderful to know that Black & White will be with me on this remarkable journey.”
The Restless Coffins will be published in paperback original in January 2018, retailing at £7.99.
