Blink Publishing has signed a book by plus-size supermodel Tess Holliday, The Not So Subtle Art of Being A Fat Girl, to publish this August.
Holliday, a model since 2010, was behind 2013's #effyourbeautystandards campaign. The hashtag has now been been shared over two million times while Holliday herself has amassed over 400,000 followers on social media. In 2015 Holliday became the first model of her size (UK 26) to be signed to a major agency, MiLKManagement in the UK.
The book, described as Holliday’s "manifesto", will be a passionate plea for women everywhere to embrace body positivity and be comfortable in their own skin - regardless of dress size. The "candid" account will explain to readers why its OK to make mistakes and learn from them, and encourage women to love their imperfections.
Kelly Ellis, editorial director at Blink Publishing, acquired exclusive worldwide rights from Anna Shillinglaw at Milk Management, to publish as a £12.99 trade paperback on 24th August.
Holliday said: “It's been SO difficult keeping this secret, but Mama wrote a book and it's coming out soon! The Not So Subtle Art of Being A Fat Girl is all about discovering how to love your body, love, life, heartbreak and more! Follow me on my journey of loving the skin you’re in.”
