Bloomsbury will publish a new edition of J K Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them next year.
The new edition, which will come after the film release of the book this autumn, will feature a new foreword from Rowling and a new jacket illustrated by Jonny Duddle, who designed the refreshed front covers for the seven Harry Potter novels in 2014. It will also feature interior black and white illustrations by Tomislav Tomić.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, first published in 2001, is a “textbook” from Hogwarts School and a companion book to the Harry Potter novels, “written by” fictitious author Newt Scamander.
The film, based on the book, stars Eddie Redmayne as Scamander. The film follows Scamander as he arrives in New York and several of his fantastic beasts escape, threatening to cause trouble in both the wizarding and No-Maj (American for Muggle) world.
Little, Brown will release a book version of the screenplay after the film’s November release, whilst HarperCollins, Scholastic and Insight Editions will release tie-in publishing ranges.
Bloomsbury will publish the new edition of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them on 14th March 2017.
