Bonnier Publishing has appointed Dan Shepherd, currently global sales and marketing director at DK Worldwide, as c.e.o. of Igloo Books Group.
Richard Johnson, group c.e.o. of Bonnier Publishing, said: “Dan’s very impressive track record, combined with his ambition, drive and communication skills, means this is a fantastic coup for us and we are delighted he has agreed to join Bonnier Publishing. The goal is to make the Igloo Books Group the biggest mass-market publisher in the world in three years’ time and I’m looking forward to working with Dan to achieve this.”
Shepherd will replace current c.e.o. John Styring, who steps down in August.
Styring founded Igloo Books, which was acquired by Bonnier two years ago. He announced he was stepping down from the role of c.e.o. in February, saying he wanted to explore other opportunities.
Shepherd, who will report to Johnson, will be responsible for Igloo Books Group’s 170 employees across imprints Igloo Books and Autumn Publishing and the warehousing and distribution company, Red Kite Fulfilment.
He said he was “delighted” to be given the new role. “John Styring and the team have done a hugely impressive job of shaping Igloo Books Group into a leading player in mass-market publishing. Richard’s vision is to further grow the business into the world's biggest mass market publisher – I’m very excited to be working with him and the team at IglooBooks to transform that vision into reality.”
Igloo Books Group’s annual turnover is £40m, Bonnier has said.
