Bonnier Zaffre is launching a new children’s imprint to publish six middle-grade books about dinosaurs who live side-by-side with humans, and a range of related merchandise.
The Supersaurs series, by artist and author Jay Jay Burridge, was inspired by the idea that the dinosaurs had never died out and is an “epic, global” adventure mixing “classic stories with numerous illustrations” and “images brought to life through extensive use of augmented reality”, said the publisher.
The series will have its own imprint, called Supersaurs Publishing, and the first book, The Raptors of Paradise, will publish in spring 2017.
Mark Smith, c.e.o. Bonnier Zaffre, said: “This is an amazing world that Jay Jay has created and we look forward to introducing it to readers all around the globe. The innovative format will re-energise the printed book and provide a unique and immersive experience for its audience. Jay Jay's creativity is just astounding and Supersaurs is the most exciting children's property I've seen in a long, long while."
The publisher, which launched the series at an event at the National History Museum in London today (15th March), said it has already received “huge interest” from international publishers.
