Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner, has signed a deal to publish her memoir with Orion imprint Trapeze.
The book, entitled The Secrets of My Life, will be co-written with Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Buzz Bissinger.
In the book, Jenner reflects on her past and looks to her future during her "pivotal first years of rebirth". It covers Jenner's confusion growing up, winning gold at the Olympics as Bruce Jenner, and "the noose of being endlessly described as the ultimate in manhood".
Jenner, who appeared in reality television series "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" with ex-wife Kris, daughters Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and step-children Kim, Kourtney, Khloé and Rob Kardashian, also delves into her life in the public eye, her marriages and troubled relationships with her children.
Said to be written with "searing honesty", she will also describe what led to her decision to becoming Caitlyn and how the transgender community and the world has responded to her new life.
Bissinger is the author of a number of highly acclaimed non-fiction titles, including Friday Night Lights (Vintage). He also wrote the landmark Vanity Fair story announcing Caitlyn's transition.
Anna Valentine, publishing director for Trapeze, bought UK and Commonwealth Rights to The Secrets of My Life from Nicole Bond at Grand Central Publishing, Hachette US. It will be published by Trapeze on 27th April 2017.
Valentine said: “Caitlyn’s story has had a profound impact on people of all ages, gender and race: anyone struggling with their identity, sexuality, or gender; anyone who has ever felt alone, bullied or on the outside. I have been so moved by the courage and dignity Caitlyn has shown in sharing her personal experience, and her story, finally told in full, is certain to have a profound impact on a society often hesitant to move to a place of greater acceptance and support. Publishing books that break down barriers and start conversations is what Trapeze is all about, and it’s an honour to have a role in sharing Caitlyn’s words with the world.”
