Canongate is to publish Insanely Gifted by Jamie Catto, former member of electronica band Faithless.
Canongate acquired world rights for the book.
Insanely Gifted shows "how to transform our thinking and turn our inner demons into allies", the publisher said. The book also shows "how to reframe disappointment because not getting what we want can be as interesting and useful as getting what we want". Through techniques to become aware of our "inner critic", and exercises such as "full body listening", Catto encourages the reader to "better know our deepest instincts and unlock our true power," Canongate said.
Catto said: "In my Insanely Gifted book I wanted to express everything that's inspired me and helped me survive and thrive as a creator. I’m so grateful to be with Canongate who appreciate and celebrate such a high calibre of diverse artists."
Francis Bickmore, Canongate's publishing director, added: "For anyone in need of a creative reboot or a confidence boost, Jamie Catto is your new guru. An inspiration to thousands through his workshops and talks, Catto’s hard-won, no-nonsense wisdom comes as a refreshing tonic. We are thrilled Jamie is bringing his brand of innovative non-fiction to Canongate’s list."
Catto is a former and founding member of Faithless. He was the ballad singer/songwriter for the band, and became art director and video director of the band before leaving in 1999 to form the double-Grammy nominated, global music and film project "1 Giant Leap". He is also known as a photographer, script editor, and "creative catalyst".
Canongate will publish Insanely Gifted on 14th July priced at £12.99.
