Jade Chandler is to leave Sphere and join Harvill Secker in the newly-created role of editorial director for crime fiction in October.
Chandler, currently senior editor for crime and thriller fiction at Sphere, joined Little, Brown in 2012 and has worked with authors such as Stephen Booth and Alex Gray, and on upmarket psychological thrillers by the critically acclaimed Christobel Kent (The Crooked House and The Loving Husband).
Vintage is also set to hire a new paperback editor in summer to work alongside Chandler on its crime fiction and thriller list.
Chandler said: “The chance to join Harvill Secker and to head up their crime list was one I couldn’t resist. Their list boasts some of the biggest and brightest stars in the genre, from home and overseas, and I can’t wait to build on that incredible foundation.”
Liz Foley, publishing director at Harvill Secker, added she was “pleased” to have someone with Chandler’s “dynamism and experience” joining the team and its authors.
