Chinese police have confirmed that missing publisher/bookseller Lee Bo is in China, following weeks of silence since his disappearance from his bookshop warehouse in Hong Kong on December 31st.
The HK authorities have received a letter from police in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong confirming he is in China and are requesting a meeting to ascertain further details about the situation, according to Bloomberg.
Lee is the fifth staffer to go missing from the Causeway Bay Bookshop and Mighty Current publishing house responsible for producing salacious books critical of leading political figures in China.
China first broke its silence following the disappearances of the five employees on Sunday (17th January), when Gui Minhai, who went missing in October from his holiday home in Thailand, appeared on China state TV to make a tearful "confession" that he had turned himself in to authorities over a hit-and-run incident over a decade ago.
