Maureen Corish has been appointed as group communications director UK and International for the newly-merged Penguin Random House.
Corish will report into PRH UK c.e.o. Tom Weldon, as well as working closely with Ian Hudson, deputy c.e.o. for the UK business and c.e.o. of Penguin Random House International, with responsibility for Asia Pacific, India and South Africa.
Corish, who has held the role of group communications director for the Random House Group UK since 2008, will now focus on post-merger internal communications and staff engagement as well as corporate communications and media relations. She will also continue to manage the Random House consumer insight team.
Penguin communications director Rebecca Sinclair will be leaving the company to relocate to Singapore at the end of July.
Weldon said Corish had done "a brilliant job" on the merger communications. "I believe communications has a pivotal role to play in making Penguin Random House the best and happiest publishing company in the world," he said. "It is going to be fascinating, challenging and exciting, and I hope fun as well."
Corish commented: "To work on the biggest merger in publishing history is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am delighted to now have the opportunity to help write the next chapter in the histories of two incredible companies that have contributed so much to the cultural fabric of our society."
Corish will divide her time between the publisher's offices in the Strand, Vauxhall Bridge Road and Ealing, with Kim Keegan working as group communications manager at the Random House headquarters and Toby Jones as communications manager for Penguin UK.
