Pete Duncan, who spent five years in the role of managing director of Constable & Robinson, has left Little, Brown and is to start his own business consultancy in the New Year.
Constable & Robinson was acquired by Little, Brown in February, and later integrated into a new editorial division, Piatkus Constable Robinson. Since the buy over half the company's original staff have departed.
Duncan became m.d. of C&R in 2009, and led the company from a £6m to £11.5m turnover growth. His new consultancy will specialize in transition and strategy planning for independent publishers, across a wide range of SMEs. Initial clients include digital-only businesses Complete University Guide, and Honestjohn.co.uk Ltd.
Duncan said: ‘The last five years were a time of remarkable growth for C&R. With the recent integration into Little, Brown complete, it feels right to share that growth experience with other independents. I'm very excited by the opportunity now to do so.'
Little, Brown publisher David Shelley said: ‘I would like to pay tribute to Pete, who has been incredibly professional and helpful throughout the transition period following Little, Brown’s purchase of C&R. He leaves with the warmest of wishes for his consultancy and future endeavours.'
