James Bond actor Daniel Craig has reportedly signed up to star in a TV adaptation of Jonathan Franzen’s novel Purity.
Purity, which was published in September last year, is the story of a young woman called Purity, her search for her father and her relationship with charismatic “outlaw-hero” of the internet, an Assange-like figure, Andreas Wolf. Craig is expected to play the Wolf character.
According to Deadline, the drama will be 20 episodes long and is being considered by networks including Showtime and FX and streaming services including Netflix, Hulu and Amazon.
The adaptation will be written by writer-director Todd Field along with Franzen and will be produced by Scott Rudin, the producer of “The Grand Budapest Hotel”, “The Social Network” and “Moneyball”.
Purity was published by HarperCollins imprint Fourth Estate.
