Blink Publishing is to release The David Brent Songbook to coincide with the UK cinema release of "Life on the Road" starring Ricky Gervais, this summer.
Ben Dunn, m.d. of Blink, acquired exclusive worldwide rights from Robert Kirby and Duncan Hayes at United Agents.
"Life on the Road" follows star of "The Office", David Brent, who now works as a rep selling cleaning (and ladies personal hygiene) products up and down the country. Brent hasn’t given up his dream of becoming a rock star - or more specifically, singer/songwriter and lead guitarist for rock band Foregone Conclusion.
The songbook is the official companion to the film, with song introductions and all music written by Brent. It will also include exclusive images of Brent and be arranged for piano, voice and guitar.
Gervais said: “This book is a dream come true for Brent. At last, the chance to pontificate about his art and divulge the stories behind such classics as “Equality Street”, “Native American”, “Lady Gypsy”, “Slough”, and “Please don’t make fun of the Disableds.” Even though this is clearly a humour book, the sheet music is real and the songs are insanely catchy and easy to play. Go and get the guitar.
The summer launch will be supported by a full sales, PR and marketing campaign across traditional and social media.
Blink will publish The David Brent Songbook on 11th August.
