Film director Michael Mann is to launch his own book imprint, Michael Mann Books, it has been reported.
Deadline said that the imprint would “generate a series of novels with a stable of writers and the properties will simultaneously be developed for film and television”.
Among the first books to be released will be a prequel novel dealing with the characters from Mann’s film “Heat”, which starred Al Pacino, Robert De Niro and Val Kilmer.
Deadline said that conversations with “publishers are expected to begin shortly”, and that Mann may share cover credit on some books.
Mann’s publishing venture will be represented by Shane Salerno at The Story Factory. Mann is represented by CAA, LBI and Attorney Harold Brown.
