Tesco’s book buying manager Paul Duffy is set to leave the supermarket in a few weeks’ time. The Bookseller can report that Duffy, Tesco’s head of buying for newspapers, magazines and books, will soon join the Daily Mail as the company’s head of retail sales and trade marketing.
A spokesperson for Tesco said: “Paul will leave us in a few weeks with our best wishes for his new role, leaving a fantastic legacy in our books, news and magazines category.”
The supermarket said Duffy’s replacement would be announced “in due course”.
Duffy took over responsibility for Tesco’s book buying in September 2013 after the then lead book buyer Garry Blackman left to join its digital platform, blinkbox books, in the role of leading its supplier relations.
