Egmont signs new Sir Charlie picture book

Egmont has acquired Sir Charlie Stinky Socks: The Dinosaur’s Return by Kristina Stephenson for its picture book and gift list.

Melissa Fairley, publishing director for picture book and gift at Egmont Publishing, bought world rights to the title from Jodie Hodges at United Agents. The book will publish to coincide with the 10th Anniversary for the Sir Charlie series.

In this "stunning" new picture book, written and illustrated by Stephenson, Sir Charlie and his faithful friends go on an adventure to Thunder Mountain which leads them into the middle of a dinosaur stampede and towards a volcano that might erupt at any moment. "An action-packed, funny and charming picture book adventure that is perfect for reading aloud before bedtime," the publisher said.

Fairley said: “Sir Charlie has a tenth birthday this year but we get the best present – a new story! This is another action-packed adventure from super-talented storyteller, Kristina Stephenson.”

Stephenson trained as a set and costume designer and has previously worked in theatre and children’s TV.

Sir Charlie Stinky Socks: The Dinosaur’s Return will be published on 7th September 2017 in hardback for £10.99 and paperback for £6.99.
