Espiner to begin as Orion m.d next month

Katie Espiner will begin her role as m.d. of Orion next month, it has been confirmed.

Espiner, who is currently at HarperCollins’ imprint The Borough Press, was announced as the new m.d. of Orion earlier this year as part of a shake-up of senior management at the Hachette UK company. She will begin at Orion on 21st September.

Also beginning new roles on 21st September will be David Shelley, who will become c.e.o. of Orion as well as Little, Brown, Jon Wood, who will become publisher of Orion, and Charlie King, who will become m.d. of Little, Brown.

The changes had originally been due to come into force on 1st January 2016, but have been brought forward to coincide with Espiner’s arrival at Orion.

David Young, who is retiring as c.e.o. of Orion, will remain at Hachette until the end of the year, acting as a mentor and advisor to Shelley and the team at Orion.
