US-based Moonbot Studios has acquired the film rights to The Extincts, an animal story for children aged seven-plus by Veronica Cossanteli (Chicken House).
"The Extincts is exactly the type of franchise we’re seeking to develop at Moonbot: fantastic, wish-it-were-true world grounded with wonderful characters and wrapped up with sharp writing, perfect for an animated feature,” said Moonbot co-founder William Joyce.
The deal was struck by Moonbot, Jane Startz Productions and Chicken House Entertainment, the media arm of Chicken House.
Chicken House published The Extincts in May 2013. It has so far sold the international rights to the US, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Holland, Turkey and Romania. The next book in the series is due this summer.
