Faber Children’s acquires fantasy series
Faber Children’s has bought a middle-grade fantasy series by Kieran Larwood, the author of Freaks (Chicken House).
The first book, Podkin One-Ear, is about a rabbit called Podkin who flees with his siblings when the warren comes under attack.
Children's Publisher Leah Thaxton, who acquired world English language rights from Zoe King at the Blair partnership, said: “We were utterly beguiled by Kieran's powerful storytelling. Podkin One-Ear is an unwilling and mischievous hero, constantly upstaged by his older more capable sister - this is the story of his rise to power in a new, human-free fantasy landscape and is truly breathtaking.”
The release date is set for October. Three further books, as yet untitled, will be announced in due course.
