Independent publisher Fat Fox Books has acquired the debut picture book from Wen Dee Tan, who came third in the 2013 Macmillan Prize for illustration.
Lili is a about a girl with fire-red hair who is ostracised by her community. She escapes to the woods where she rescues some village children in danger, meaning she is accepted back into the fold.
M.d. Holly Millbank, who acquired world rights to the title directly from the author, said: ““Wen Dee Tan has an incredible raw talent which comes through on every page of this beautiful story. The text is engaging, warm and full of hope and her drawings are unique and absolutely sensational.”
Fat Fox will publish the book in February next year.
