Authors including Julian Fellowes, Audrey Niffenegger and Jeffrey Archer will makes appearances as part of the “glittering” line-up for London Book Fair this year.
Alongside the fair’s Authors of the Day – Howard Jacobson, Jeanette Winterson, Tracey Chevalier, Judith Kerr, Nick Bostrom and Marian Keyes -authors Peter James, Deborah Levy, Max Porter and Meg Rosoff will also take part in events.
Fellowes' Belgravia app will launch on the week of the fair (14th April), which will release chapters of his new story, Belgravia (Orion), week by week. He will take part in a Q&A with fair director, Jacks Thomas, at the LBF PEN Literary Salon – a daily space for author interviews, literary debates and events – on Tuesday 12th April at 12:30pm.
Also on the Tuesday, Rosoff will be in conversation with Telegraph columnist, Rowan Pelling, at the PEN Salon while Niffenegger will take part in a panel on women in comics alongside graphic novelist, Hannah Berry. Porter, author of Grief is the Thing with Feathers (Faber), will be in conversation with the Guardian’s books editor, Claire Armitstead at the PEN Salon while James, will host a session on character and plot development for aspiring and established authors at Author HQ. Archer will give a talk at the English PEN Literary Salon, introduced by English PEN.
On Wednesday 13th April, Chinese author Xiaolu Guo will take part in a panel on Chinese Science Fiction as a reflection of today’s Chinese society and Levy will appear in in conversation with critic, journalist and broadcaster Alex Clark at the PEN Salon.
Further highlights will include Polish writer and poet, Wioletta Greg, in conversation with literary translator Antonia Lloyd-Jones at the PEN Salon on Thursday 14th April, and Kerr in conversation with the Sunday Times’ children’s books editor, Nicolette Jones, at the PEN Salon. Roland Chambers, children’s author and writer-in-residence at First Story, LBF’s Charity of the Year, will host a workshop for writers and educators.
Also appearing will be Nikesh Shukla, Elif Shafak, Orna Ross, Joanna Penn, Titi Horsfall, Camilla Way and Yen Ooi. London Book Fair will run from 12th April to 14th April.
