Warner Bros Consumer Products (WBCP) has signed licensed publishing deals with HarperCollins, Scholastic and Insight Editions for the upcoming film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, set in J K Rowling’s Wizarding World.
Scholastic has signed a multi-year global publishing deal for books based on the upcoming film, which stars Eddie Redmayne. The publisher will produce children’s movie tie-in books for Fantastic Beasts and its sequels, as well as tie-in books based on the original eight Harry Potter films.
HarperCollins has also signed a global publishing deal for Fantastic Beasts, this time for adult tie-in titles. The books will be about the making of the film and will feature interviews with the cast and filmmakers.
Insight Editions, a long-time publisher of books about the Harry Potter film franchise, has acquired the rights to a global publishing program based on the wizarding world of J.K. Rowling, including novelty titles.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, written by J K Rowling, was inspired by her “Hogwarts textbook” of the same name. It will be released in cinemas in 2D and 3D on 18th November.
This year will also see the release of a Harry Potter play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, set 19 years after the end of the seventh book. Little, Brown has the publishing rights to the script in the UK.
