Children’s author and illustrator Ted Dewan is set to have his Bing Bunny books adapted for TV for the first time.
UK-based independent production company Acamar Films has acquired the rights to the pre-school books in a deal with The Licensing Company (TLC) and HarperCollins, which will publish tie-ins for the series in a range of media.
The Bing Bunny titles including Bing Go Picnic and Bing Get Dressed have previously been published by Random House Children's Books imprint David Fickling Books.
The new TV series will be broadcast on Cbeebies in the UK. HC secured the deal after what was described as “a fiercely competitive auction in the children’s publishing industry”.
Bing Bunny celebrates the real-life experiences of pre-school children, with the catch-phrase “It’s a Bing thing!” He is accompanied by his wise carer Flop and a cast of friends and family.
