The Hodder Education Group has bought Pearson's list of textbooks for primary and secondary schools in Singapore.
The list, which features over 700 titles, will be re-published under the Hodder Education imprint "in due course". It will be run locally by Hodder Education in Singapore, with the team now reporting to Lucy Clark, Hodder Education's international sales manager.
Lis Tribe, group m.d. of Hodder Education, said: “Our international publishing continues to go from strength to strength, and this acquisition will considerably enhance Hodder Education’s position in Singapore and the surrounding region. It builds on our acquisition of the Pearson Caribbean list in 2014 and enables us to publish locally in a territory that has long-term strategic significance.
“We have big ambitions for the list and will be looking to make a number of new editorial, production and sales appointments to be based in London and in Singapore."
The buy follows on from that of indie publisher Rising Stars a year ago.
