YouTuber Joe Sugg is publishing a second graphic novel, Username: Regenerated, with Hodder & Stoughton.
Editorial director Briony Gowlett bought world rights from Lucy Lendrem at Gleam Futures.
Sugg started making YouTube videos in 2012 and has 10m subscribers across his three YouTube channels. His first book, Username: Evie, which published last September, was a bestseller and, according to Hodder, the fastest-selling graphic novel since records began. It was also shortlisted for Children’s Book of the Year at The British Book Industry Awards, where its marketing strategy was highly commended.
Username: Regenerated will again be the product of a collaboration between Sugg and "The Sugg Squad", which includes writer Matt Whyman, illustrator Amrit Birdi and his art team consisting of Joaquin Pereyra and Mindy Lopkin.
The book will be published in hardback and e-book on 22nd September 2016, priced £16.99, and Sugg will be doing a series of events nationwide on publication and throughout the autumn to promote it.
Gowlett said: "I couldn’t be more excited to be working with Joe on his second book in this Username series. Joe has boundless energy and enthusiasm for everything he does, but in creating graphic novels he has found the perfect way to show off what an imaginative storyteller he is. This is just the beginning for Joe as an author and I know there’s even more exciting times ahead."
Sugg said: ‘’I’m so grateful to be given the chance to continue this series. This time I’ve evolved the storyline and delved further into the characters and I’m excited to see what everyone thinks of it. I hope everyone enjoys it and it encourages more people to read!”
