Hodder & Stoughton and Hachette Children’s Group have both acquired books by the explorer Levison Wood.
Hodder & Stoughton will publish Walking the Americas, a book about Wood’s 1,700-mile upcoming trek along spine of the Americas from Mexico to Colombia. The trip will be filmed by Wood and a TV crew and broadcast by Channel 4 in 2017.
Wood said: “For this new expedition, I wanted to take a different approach and explore an area of the world which I’ve not encountered before. It will be a new challenge for me, out of my comfort zone and spending time with people living vastly different lives – from hunting and foraging in the dense jungle to the daily struggle of life in some of the world’s most dangerous cities.”
Walking the Americas will also be published in February 2017.
In a separate deal, Wren & Rook, an imprint of Hachette Children’s Group, will publish a book by Wood entitled Incredible Journeys in autumn 2018.
The gift title will explore epic human journeys such as Scott and Amundsen’s race to the South Pole.
Both deals were for world volume rights from Jo Cantello at Wolfsong Media.
