Nathan Hull has joined Dutch e-book platform Elly’s Choice as chief commercial and content officer.
Hull, formerly of Scandinavian e-book subscription service Mofibo and former Penguin Books digital development director, has joined the company to help launch a “new international book platform” by Elly’s Choice at the end of this year. While Hull could not divulge what the plans for the launch involved at present, he told The Bookseller he was on board to roll out the new platform and internationalise it.
Elly’s Choice was founded in August 2014 by Boudewijn Jansen as the first e-book subscription model in The Netherlands, with the aim of creating a worldwide digital reading concept which would unite authors and readers from across the globe.
Hull said: “The opportunity to work alongside Boudewijn and the Amsterdam team in taking the Elly’s Choice model into its next phase was immediately exciting. The existing business is tried, tested, trusted and very successful in Holland and the future vision is both innovative and expansive, so I cannot wait to now take this to the next level internationally.”
Jansen, c.e.o of Elly’s Choice, said: “With our enormous ambition to play an international role in the book industry, Nathan will be a fantastic addition to our team. With his proven experience he will invigorate our international developments as well as managing our international office.”
Hull will split his time between Holland and the UK. He departed Mofibo, where he was chief business development officer, in June after the company was acquired by Storytel in May for £10.36m.
