I B Tauris will take over direct control of all aspects of the sales, distribution, marketing and publishing of its books in North America.
From 1st February 2015, all marketing and publicity campaigns for North America will be handled directly from the company’s headquarters in London. The publisher has appointed US publishing services company Bookmasters Inc, which has the same parent company as book and gift stationery supplier Baker & Taylor, to handle local trade sales representation, warehousing and order fulfilment.
Paul Davighi, sales and marketing director at I B Tauris, said: “We operate in increasingly globalised markets and we now have an effective worldwide marketing outreach from the UK into which it makes obvious sense to include North America. Bookmasters is the perfect local sales and fulfilment partner on the ground in the US, and its close links to Baker & Taylor, one of the largest customers for our books in the world, gives it tremendous strength in the market.”
Jonathan McDonnell, managing director at I B Tauris, added: “We were previously distributed by Palgrave Macmillan in North America. The next step for a company of our size has traditionally been to open offices on the East Coast but this really makes less sense in this day and age. We can now operate more direct relationships with our North American authors and major customers from here in the UK, just as we do in other parts of the world”.
