Icon Books has brought forward the publication of 5000-1: The Leicester City Story to Thursday 26th May and will go to print just 48 hours after the last game of the season.
"As it stands Leicester City are one win away from a truly unprecedented Premier League title", Icon Books said. "Almost unbelievably, Leicester City FC – a team facing relegation a year ago, priced at 5000-1 to finish top at the start of this season – are currently Premier League leaders."
Icon will distribute over 500 copies of the sample of the book at Leceister City's match against Manchester United this Sunday (1st May) to give fans the first glimpse of the "highly anticipated" book.
Written by the Leicester Mercury’s chief football writer Rob Tanner, 5000-1: The Leicester City Story is Tanner’s diary of this "astonishing" season as it happened, recounting the "growing sense of hope and disbelief as the Foxes close in on the most remarkable underdog story in the history of the Premier League".
Tanner has been Leicester Mercury’s chief football writer for eight seasons spanning their time in League One and a headline grabbing stint under the management of Sven-Göran Eriksson.
Tanner said: "The last year has been unreal for Leicester City. To move in twelve short months from likely relegation to – dare I whisper it – sight of victory and billing amongst the greatest clubs in Europe – is the stuff of fairytales. ‘Rollercoaster ride’ doesn’t come close. I’ve been writing about football and about Leicester for years and I’m thrilled that, with Icon’s help, this story which I’ve followed from kick to kick, will make it onto bookshop shelves."
Icon originally planned to publish the book on 7th July.
